There is nothing in the world more fun than catching winter Smallmouth, especially when your fishing Dale Hollow where the world record Smallmouth was caught. We went up to Dale Hollow a couple weeks ago hoping the water temps was in the mid 40’s. We was looking to throw the floating fly and catch Smallmouth, but instead due to all the rain and high water levels we had in December the water temps was still in the 50’s. So we put down the float n fly rods and pulled out the jigs and tube baits. First morning was 16 degrees when we left the dock, we started targeting rocky points and deep rocky banks. So when the sun came out the smallmouth started biting, they would almost knock the rods out of your hand. I think we caught one Smallmouth on the fly,  we stayed with the jig and tube for 3 days of fishing. If your looking to go on a trip to Dale Hollow and need a place to stay give Horse Creek Marina a call. Great place to stay and has covered boat docks to keep your boat in. Starting to book Spring trips, give me a call.
